Bryde's Whale, Bolivar Channel As we headed north from Fernandina through the Bolivar Channel, we moved more out toward open sea. Santiago spotted a couple of manta rays jumping, and then we all saw a small pod of Bryde's whales a few hundred yards away. For nearly all the passengers, this was their first sighting of a whale in the wild. We stayed nearby to watch them for twenty minutes or so, but they were not taking the same path we had to so eventually we had to move off.
