The Great Pyramid of Khufu is on the left;
it looks lower than the pyramid of Khafre (his son) on the right, partly
because it's farther away, and partly because it is built on lower ground.
Notice the top part of Khufu's is missing; for some reason I had never
realized this before. At the far left is seating for the annual performances
of the opera "Aida", the love story of an Egyptian general and an enslaved
Ethiopian princess. (Now that would be something to see!)
