There are several things of interest here:
1. The obelisk. Most of the obelisks in the Karnak area were erected by
Hatshepsut. 2. The statue of Ramses II on the left. This is smaller than
most he had made of himself. Typical of pharaohs' statues is the inclusion
of a favorite queen or daughter (in this case possibly Bent'anta, who was
both), depicted at his knee. 3. The stunningly decorated walls. They are
carved and/or painted over every square foot of their surfaces.
