From the circus we were taken to this ancient
Roman villa, the Villa Sileen, several miles away. It is still in the
process of being excavated and restored, and is not always open, but we
got lucky. You can see in this mosaic that it has been partly cleaned,
and how much of a difference that makes. The left part of the design
shows races at the Leptis Magna hippodrome; you can see the elongated
oval shape of the track.
