20120607c_RomeStPetersChains San Pietro in Vincoli, Rome

In the same church as Michelangelo's Moses, these are the chains supposedly used on St. Peter when he was imprisoned in Jerusalem (subsequently liberated by an angel). This reliquary is located beneath the main altar of the church, which was consecrated in the year 439.
