A view of central
Cairo. They were having a heatwave -
about 10°F warmer than usual for mid-March - and it was very smoggy.
This traffic appears orderly, but that's because there isn't much;
it was still quite early. If you look closely, you'll see a couple of black
taxis (one is near the bottom, behind the top of a streetlight) driving
along
the lane dividing lines. In Cairo these indicate lanes in their own right.
Horns were used a lot, and in quite a conversational way. I was really
impressed by our driver's skills: he got us through completely chaotic
clogs of traffic very efficiently, without ever getting into an accident.
