The tomb of
Thutmoses III is the farthest
from the valley entrance - though that's still only about 1/2 mile;
the area is surprisingly small. But because it's a bit out of
the way, it seems to get fewer visitors. You have to go up these stairs,
through a narrow
cleft in the mountain, and then down more stairs (maybe the stairs are
another reason why it's less popular). Despite some misgivings
on the part of our guide, the kids found this one to be great fun.
It is also one of the oldest in the Valley
of the Kings; only those of his father and grandfather are older.
Thutmoses III ruled from 1479-1425BC, quite a bit longer than most.
