A view of the lobby of the Corinthia Bab Africa
Hotel in Tripoli. This hotel, located right next to the medina, normally
costs about 300 Euros per night per room. We were not originally scheduled
to stay here, but one of our tour leaders told me that the travel agency
in Libya had arranged for an upgrade thanks to the large volume of business
from our tour company. It was certainly the best-appointed hotel I have
ever stayed at, handily beating out the Fairmont in San Jose where I once
stayed for a conference (which costs about 30% less). Definitely a 5-star
hotel, and the concierges were very helpful while I was trying to reconfirm
our flights home.
