This statue is one of the prize possessions
of the museum. It was originally taken by the Italians in the 1920's and
displayed in Italy, but after a petition by the Libyan government, it was
returned to Libya in (I think) 2000. It is displayed in a prominent
position in the lobby of the museum. The mosaic on the wall in the
background is the one shown in the previous detailed photos.
