Walking through Hezekiah's Tunnel, which was dug through the rock around 700BC to ensure the city's water supply during a siege. The tunnel, which ends near the Pool of Siloam, is described in the Bible. Without flashlights, it is completely dark. The water is only about 6-12" deep most of the way, but briefly gets up to mid-thigh soon after starting. Although the water is cool, the air is still, so after a few minutes' walking you start to feel pretty warm. This was definitely a great side trip. |
