Inside the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Completely by accident, we found ourselves entering through the Door of Humility: a very small door set within a filled-in Crusader-era arch. There has been a church on this spot since the early 4th century AD. Like the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, there is a complex and rigid set of rules about which local branch of Christianity is responsible for various sections and operations of this church (here Catholics - usually referred to as "Latins" - Armenians, and Greek Orthodox).
