Inside the Duomo We only spent one night in Florence. In the morning we had tickets to climb up inside the dome that Brunelleschi designed for the Duomo. This was really interesting, and gave us a completely different perspective of the church – formally named the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore – and of Florence. Here is an early view we got during the climb, of the frescoes that adorn the interior of the dome. They depict the Last Judgement, and are visible from the ground floor, but not like this.
