Another Egyptian obelisk, but this one is a copy commissioned by Emperor Domitian and first placed at a temple of Serapis (a "god" devised by Ptolemy I in the third century B.C. to help unite the Greeks and Egyptians under his rule). The sculptor Bernini moved it here and incorporated it into his fountain.
